Innovation driver
For us, however, success above all means change. When MOTION was founded in 2001, the mobile market was only just starting to turn. Slowly at first, then ever faster. Since then there has been no standstill in this constantly changing industry. That is why we do not cling to routines but keep opening up new perspectives for ourselves and our customers – staying in motion, just as our name says.
How it all began.
Bülent and Ümit met back in 1996 while studying law and worked alongside university as promoters in the mobile sector. In 2001 they founded Akbulut-Karsli GbR and started out with their online shop for mobile phones – www.fonmarkt.de. At first they only sold handsets to end customers; later they also brokered mobile contracts.
Always in motion.
Bülent and Ümit founded Akbulut-Karsli GbR and launched their online shop for mobile phones, www.fonmarkt.de – the origin of MOTION.
they moved from Osnabrück to Cologne-Dellbrück into a former police station, and the partnership became MOTION TM Vertriebs GmbH. From then on, three further shareholders were on board: Stefan Lange, Bülent Celik and Hendrik Wehmeyer.
In 2009 the business was expanded to include wholesale and distribution, and because of the enormous growth the location moved from Cologne to Troisdorf. MOTION had become a fixture in German mobile retail.
the existing partnership with mobilcom-debitel was intensified. mobilcom-debitel GmbH (freenet group) held 51% of MOTION for a time. Since 2020 MOTION has been independent again and the original shareholders once more hold 100% of the shares. The joint business was developed along the way.
Motion underwent a complete rebranding, positioning itself visually for the future as well. The dynamic design reflects our commitment to staying in motion in a constantly changing world.
Enablers.
Today, as an independent online distributor at our Troisdorf site, we develop forward-looking solutions for mobile and telecommunications. We act proactively, think long term and plan with the utmost care. Our daily ambition is quite simple: the best support for our customers and sales partners. To meet these varied demands we have established several brands that fulfil every requirement quickly, flexibly and transparently. Through all this growth our goals have never changed – partnerships built on reliability and fairness.
Working at MOTION.
Our team is as diverse as our services. The people at MOTION bring the widest range of skills and expertise. Everyone is an expert in their field. What they all share is a passion for telecommunications. That is all it takes, and that is a good thing. Because we believe that diversity has a positive effect on every area of work. That is why we rely on continuous exchange, create development opportunities and leave room for inspiration. Across all levels of hierarchy, our culture thrives on mutual respect, tolerance, honesty, recognition and speaking openly. Only what is genuinely lived inside a company can unfold on the outside.
